AKC’s Responsible Dog Ownership Day is on Sept. 22, 2012 at Canyon Park East (500 E. Center Street, Cedar City) and being hosted by Festival Country K-9s beginning at 10AM.
The American Kennel Club and Iron County’s Festival Country K-9s is committed to helping dog owners raise, happy, healthy dogs that can be kept for the pet’s entire lifetime.
Among companion animals, dogs are unmatched in their devotion, loyalty and friendship to humankind, but owning a dog is a responsibility and a privilege.
This event will have guest speakers and Gail Workman, AKC Certified Evaluator, will be testing dogs for Canine Good Citizens.
There will be lots of contests with prizes including a dog costume contest, an owner-dog look alike, best trick, biggest dog, smallest dog, and more.
On the same day, Festival Country K-9s will also be hosting all the Iron County Animal Shelters and their adoptable animals at the “Swap and Shop” at Diamond Z Arena from 8am until 3PM. They will have rummage sale items for sale to benefit the animals of Iron County as well as educational information.
Festival Country K-9s has been hosting dog training classes at Canyon Park East (500 E Center Street, Cedar City) every Wednesday with Gail Workman. These classes have been open to the public and held for free. We have seen much improvement in many dogs. The group does ask participants to sign up as a member and pay a $20 (family or individual) membership waiver if they are going to continue the classes on a regular basis. Classes will be held as long as weather permits and are at 6:30PM.
