Friends of Festival Country K-9s will be proposing to the Enoch City Council on June 6, 2012 at 6PM at the Enoch City Offices, 900 E. Midvalley Road, Enoch, Utah
Friends of the Cedar City Dog Park made several attempts at working with Cedar City to bring a dog park to there but the idea has been rejected.
Our latest meeting with the Cedar City Mayor and City Manager helped us understand that Cedar City has already spent more in parks and recreation than any other area with the building of the new Aquatic Center, Lake at the Hills, Baseball Complex, Trails etc. while at the same time, they have been unable to increase their maintenance crews which are already over-burdened.
Although our group proposed "just a piece of land" and we would develop it with fundraising, grants, and already collected RAP tax funds (Recreation Arts & Parks),
we are told this idea is just not feasible right now.
We are still moving forward and looking for property in either Enoch City, Iron County or private property that can be donated. Our goal would be to have at least five acres to work with so it can be a multi-purpose area.
If located in Enoch, we would like to incorporate the proposed new Enoch Animal Shelter (that is supposed to be moved by 2015) in with the park to benefit the shelter and it's animals.
In the meantime, we are still working to educate the community with animal related materials and activities as well as support all the animal shelters. More Information can be found at: http://www.cedarcitydogpark.info/
We will be having a FUN DAY for families with their dogs on June 16th at Park Discovery from 10AM to 4PM. To find out more: http://www.cedarcitydogpark.info/DOG-PARK-4-A-DAY.html
