Our beautiful city has many wonderful events and festivals throughout the year.  Here are just some:
 
Shakespearean FestivalJune 28 - September 4, 2010
 
Utah Shakespearean Festival, a Tony Award winning event (Best Regional Theater, 2000), held in Cedar City, offers matinee and evening performances, backstage tours, seminars and the free nightly Greenshow. Plays featured this season in repertory are: Macbeth, The Merchant of Venice, Much Ado About Nothing, Pride and Prejudice, Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps and Great Expectations: A New Musical.

Christmas Festival

American Children’s Christmas Festival held at the Cedar City Heritage Center (105 N 100 E, Cedar City) unless otherwise noted. The Festival features Fireworks, Bedtime Stories, musical and dance productions,  Santaland, Festival of Trees and more. Most events are free although a few entail a nominal fee. 
 
PARKS IN AND AROUND CEDAR CITY
 
Discovery Park
 
Cedar Breaks National Monument is located 23 miles east of Cedar City, along Highway 148 between Highway 14 and Brian Head. Resting on top of the Colorado plateau, at over 10,000 feet in elevation, this breathtaking view awaits. Millions of years of sedimentation, uplift, and erosion are carving out this giant amphitheater, that spans some three miles, and is more than 2000 feet deep. 
 
Bryce Canyon National Park is approximately 80 miles from Cedar City.  Cedar Breaks National Monument is on the way.  Take I-15 north to exit 59. Go east on 200 North, then south on Main Street to Center Street/UT-14. Travel east on UT-14 to US-89. Go north on US-89 to UT-12. Follow UT-12 east to UT-63. Take UT-63 south to Bryce Canyon National Park. The visitor center sits 1 mile inside the park boundary. This is a very scenic route during the summer months and early fall.
 
Zion's Kolob Canyons is approximately 19 miles south of Cedar City.  Take I-15 south to Exit #40/Kolob Canyons/Zion National Park.  Left under freeway to entrance on your right.
 
Zion National Park is approximately 61 miles from Cedar City.  Take I-15 south to Exit #27/Toquerville/Hurricane (31 miles).  Turn left on UT-17 (6.1 miles) and Left on UT-9(6.3 miles), turn left on Kolob Road (go 15 miles) and arrive at Zion National Park.
