Cedar City will license your pets at the Low Cost MVP Vaccination & Micro-chip Clinic on Friday from 5 to 6:30PM. Save yourself a special trip to City Offices and have everything done at once.
If your pet has been spayed or neutered, bring your certificate of proof for your discount. If your dog has already been vaccinated for rabies (rabies are good for 3 years with adult dogs), bring your proof of vaccination as well. Licensing is $10 with spay neuter certificate or $50 without.

In speaking with Cedar City Officials and City Council Members over the last few months, The Cedar City Dog Park Group has found that the number one complaint has been that there is dog waste left behind everywhere. Our hope is to curtail this problem by bringing awareness to the general dog owning public that this is NOT acceptable. Beside the fact that there are serious health risks to humans as well as dogs by not picking up after dogs, it is just plain disgusting. One gram of dog waste contains up to 23 MILLION fecal coliform bacteria which are known to cause cramps, diarrhea, intestinal illness and serious kidney disorders in humans. |

RUNNING…and it is feeling GOOD! People always use the saying, “It’s all in the numbers”. If that is the case, our numbers are looking good. When I held the folder of dog park petitions a few weeks ago, we had over 40 pages of signatures supporting the dog park. The average page consisted of 15 to 25 signatures per page, depending upon the formatting. This folder is “out there”,within our group, and I know has changed hands a few times to the good folks willing to help get more signatures. |

We have been working hard to get a dog park in Cedar City for many reasons. Here are just a few.
Reasons to support our dog park: - Dogs that play hard are less destructive and
calmer at home.
- There are numerous health benefits for both dogs
and their owners for instance exercise and socialization.
- Dog parks are not just for dogs, they are a great
place for owners to meet with other people who share their love of
dogs.
- Many disabled and senior citizens are not
physically able to exercise their dogs,

The dog park group is needing pledges to prove to the Cedar City Council, whom they will be addressing on February 15, 2012, that the community is in support of the dog park. Everyone who pledges will be acknowledged of their support via our website and on printed materials, See below:
Hello from Friends of the Cedar City Dog Park Project! A new dog park in the city, where dogs can legally run off-leash needs community support.
Our group is in the preliminary stages of drawing up a master plan to detail land requirements, material costs, publicity, and liability assessments.

Minutes from meeting on 1/7 - called to order 3:05PM In attendance: Kim Ritz, Lynne Brown, Diane Gil & Paul White Lynne was told by Nina Barnes on the City Council that we should meet with the Parks and Recreation Advisory board before going addressing the City Council. Lynne is going to get in touch with Bruce Barclay who is a member of the Park Committee to see when they are scheduled to meet. It's more than likely the City Council will refer our request to this Committee (chairperson is Nina Barnes), so we would like to find out more about them. |

We wish to say THANK YOU
to everyone who supported and donated to our 2011 Hungry Bowl Pet Food Drive for the Iron County Animal Shelters.
We picked up a total of 1,946 pounds of pet food from the boxes that we had located at Urban Dawgs Lins CAL Ranch IFA and Cedar Veterinary Hospital
More donations were made directly to the animal shelters and Cedar Animal Rescuebringing our totals to well over 2,000 pounds of pet food. The following animal shelters are NO-KILL SHELTERS and are sharing the pet food with each other. |

The following dog is a very well behaved, house-trained dog with a beautiful coat. Someone must be missing her terribly because she is wonderful with children and animals alike as well as being trained.

A Client sent me this e-mail and I think it is a GREAT tradition to start. My family and friends are going to get coupons to local business' to support our local economy. I love supporting our local business' and think this is a great way to do it. Maybe you can think about it too... CHRISTMAS 2011 – BIRTH OF A NEW TRADITION
As the holidays approach, the giant Asian factories are kicking into high gear to provide Americans with monstrous piles of cheaply produced goods -- merchandise that has been produced at the expense of American labor. |

We have been told by our pet food drop off locations for the Hungry Bowl Pet Food Drive that there have been a lot of donations. The problem is that no one from D&B's Pet Sitting has gotten those donations. Someone has been picking these donations up and NOT delivering them to D&B's or to the shelter recipients due to receive the donations (Iron County Animal Shelter, Cedar Animal Rescue, Enoch and Parowan Animal Shelters). Anyone else, not associated with one of these shelters is not authorized to take the pet food. |

The meeting for those interested in supporting the group that is trying to get a dog park in Cedar City is scheduled for 3PM at the Cedar City Library on December 3, 2011. The purpose: - To establish a fenced in, off-leash dog park where well-behaved canines can exercise in a clean, safe environment without endangering or annoying people, property or wildlife.
- To develop a social interaction for all dog lovers and friends who are willing to uphold the park's rules and restrictions.

The next Cedar City Dog Park Meeting will be held on Sat., Dec. 3rd, 2011 at the Cedar City Library at 3PM. Everyone welcome.
Why does Cedar City need a dog park? Because it would benefit dog owners and non-dog owners alike.
How? If there was a dog park, dog owners would be less likely to break leash laws and have dogs in public parks where dogs are not allowed. They are also less likely to be in areas where they are considered a "nuisance" to those that do not like or want to be around dogs. |
